Quick Update...

Just a quick update on the happenings in the Piper household.

Last week was pretty crazy! Deb and I prepped for the QC Computer Society meeting last Wednesday, which went extremely well!!  And it was fun, too!

Thursday: I played doubles Tennis with DN8, Anton and Jason (Verber) - Jason was my partner...we didn't win, but we will this Wednesday!!

Friday: James and I went out for Mexican - he had 2 a days for football. He almost fell asleep at the table. When we got home I tried to show him the coolest toy, ever - the Wii Fit, but he started snoring.

Saturday: Worked FOREVER on re-siding the house. After working for 6 hours I took a shower and Deb, mom and I went to Judy's house for some quilting lessons.  The guys continued to work...when I got home I worked for an additional 2 hours. By the time we were done we were using flashlights because it was pitch-black out.

Sunday: James and I worked from 8AM - 2PM on finishing the south side of the house. I was burned...did I mention that?  Burned to a crisp!  It hurt to be out in the sun, so I put my tailgate down in the Element and hid every chance I got!!  Then we treated ourselves to a late lunch at HuHot and got some ice cream. We then laid around and watched our recorded show, Burn Notice (love that show!!)!

Monday: Judy, Deb and I hit Hobby Lobby at noon time to get some quilting rulers. Then we met up again at 5PM and ate at Gus' (our fav place).  Mom, Josephine and Squirt (Natalia) showed up after awhile and ate with us, too.  Then we all trekked over to Cari's house for a Stampin' Up! party. We made some cute cards and ordered some goodies!!  I got tons of baby time!!!!  I love hanging out with J and Squirt!!  I'm hoping we can BBQ over labor day.

Today: Judy, Deb and I plan to hit the local sewing store called Home Ec!  Should be a blast! Kirsten recommends it all the time, so I am excited to check it out!!

Long, Long Weekend...

First off: Happy Birthday to James!!!!  I could list a million and a half things that I love about him, but he probably won't read this and I don't want to waste my time. And if he does read this, he will just roll his eyes and call me a dork, so - no harm, no foul on either side.  I do love him very much and I hope he lives forever... (kisses!).

This weekend we started re-siding our home.

Saturday: James and I ripped off the back of the house and put up this crazy 'super insulation'...moments before the last storm of the day. We were drenched from head to toe!!! Literally, we were dripping all over the house!!  That was pretty labor intensive because all the pieces were screwed in.

Sunday: Dad came over to help us out and I became 'the runner' - we need this, go get that...et cetera.  We started at 8AM by going to get the siding (Dad and Me - story for another day - we are a couple of knuckle heads when we get together!) and then I ran around town until 1PM getting stuff. Dad and James got the siding up on the back by 1 and then we ate lunch.  Right after that, Bob Mitchell, arrived and we started tearing off 1/2 of one of the sides. I was relieved that I could get my hands dirty and help out. I'm much better at the 'hands-on' stuff, not so much the shopping! Dad and I cut the insulation and all four of us got it up without any problems. Then, Bob cut the siding and James and Dad put it up. I was randomly handing people stuff and standing on ladders (I love being at the top of a ladder with a staple gun...made my day!) and fetching water and pop for the guys.  I also had clean up and old siding duty.  I chased blowing paper around the yard, picked up useless new pieces of siding and carried all the old siding to the top of the hill in our backyard.  We finally finished up the 1/2 at 7ish. We still have about 3/4 of the house left to side. I don't think we'll get it done next weekend, but we can try!!!

Random pics: 1. Left: New (sandstone)  Right: Old (blue)  2. Dad and a piece of siding  3. James squatting  4. The back side (minus the top trim)

?...

As I was eating breakfast this morning I got a text from Deb saying, "congrats" - at first I thought it was a message via Twitterand she was congratulating a random person, like maybe her husband Jason for beating someone at a Wii game...it wasn't.

It's 6:30AM...what could I have done that would deserve a "congrats"?

So, I text "?"

Deb texts, "you will see"

great.

I had to hang in suspense until a couple minutes ago. I was in google reader and saw this:

Centered...

I know I've been centering myself around one thing or another (like Nat or the Breaking Dawn Release - probably not too interesting), but that sort of happens when the beginning of football season starts to approach.  I try to spend more time with James because I don't see him too much during the season...which, begins tomorrow!!!  So, that means I have little things to write about...that's sort of what happens when you are a coach's wife. I like it, though because I'll start doing more and more projects coming up due to all the alone time I'll have on my hands!

I did go to block of the month last Thursday with Deb and Judy. We are going to Pine Needles on the last Thursday of every month until we have 12 squares. Then we will be using the finishing kit to finish the queen size quilt. However, we could also make a King or do table runners or place mats. It's going to be a ton of fun. Judy is a professional, so she is going to show me and Deb the quilting 'ropes'!

Hopefully, I'll have some exciting stuff going on this week to share!  I have been reading Cold Comfort Farm, but put it aside for the best novel ever...Breaking Dawn. It was everything I had hoped it would be...and more, actually!  So, I'll probably finish CCF up this week and move on to something else.

Here are some pics from the PARTY!! I was a little toasty...I don't think I was the only one.
